The land of the Italian Big Rivers is a rectangular surface spreading between the Adige river and the Po river and has Rovigo as its chief town. The province of Rovigo proved to be a centralized area among the Adriatic Sea and the North of Europe and over time it became a geographical and logistical platform located between the core of Europe and the Mediterranean region. In fact, the most qualified production areas and infrastructures gravitate around it. The Rovigo province was spared city congestions, developed excellent conditions for improving the quality of life and currently has a surface of 13,2 million squared meters dedicated to the industrial zones. Today it represents the ideal location for new settlements in accordance with its geographical position, human resources and development projects for advanced technologies.

The infrastructures of a logistical platform

The Rovigo province is a rectangle of 1,800 sq m, with a population of 250,000 inhabitants. The road network is efficient. The motorway A13 connects Venice to Bologna (north to south); the two airports are only an hour from the Rovigo tollgate. Along the Transpolesana highway, Verona (location of another airport) can be reached in less than an hour. The Nuova Romea highway and the ending of Transpolesana up to the sea will allow to make the entire road system part of the Adriatic corridor E45-E55. The water network cross vertically the Rovigo territory with connections to Mantova, Cremona and Milan, Chioggia, Venice, Trieste and the Balkan coasts and two points: the inner port of Porto Viro and the Interporto of Rovigo. Road, water and railway transports are supported logistically by the province of Rovigo.

A leading industry in a territory which still offers opportunities

Today the area hosts production activities of different types of goods. Among the specialised leading companies it is to be mentioned Cantieri Navali Visentini (ship-building), Bassano Grimeca, world leader in the production of rims for motorbikes, Grandi Molini, the first world-exporting firm of wheat flour, Irsap, air conditioning systems, Guerrato, installations, Incold and Intrac, refrigeration industry, Riello electric motors and Zanussi electric motors, Lareter, Wavin and Deriplast, plastics, and Zhermack, Dental Manufacturing and Esoform, medical sector. Some craft-like small and medium- sized companies also operate in the sectors of engineering, wood, furnishing, textile, clothing and shoemaking and form efficient linked activities. There is still room for further growth, though.

Settlements, areas and intermodality

Infrastructures and the specific industrial areas were "conceived together". An example of synergy is provided by one million and three hundred thousand squared meters available for production settlements in Villamarzana, where the motorway's tollgate for the intersection between the Transpolesana and the motorway A13 Venice-Bologna is expected to be erected. Other areas are available close to the Industrial Equiped Area of Adria-Loreo, at the Rovigo's interport both for activities related to shipping and for production settlements. Others exist in Porto Viro, close to the inner port or along the Romea road. This available spots are also supported by an industrial policy which is sensitive to the needs of maintaining and improving environmental resources.
